Title: Artane Oratory of the Resurrection
Material: Portland Stone
Location: Artane Dublin
A tome in stone, this record of the boys and Brothers who
died during the years of the Artane Industrial School is carved
on a gently curved ambulatory wall leading to the chapel.
The concept for the design is that of a scroll. An introductory
inscription introduces one to the purpose of the lettering,
the list of names is carved incorporating boys and Brothers
in sequence, and acting as a doxology a quotation from the
gospel of St. John in Gaelic is set out as a block of lettering
to complete the effect of an unrolled scroll.
